This originated with me sending regular emails to my close friends and family on environmental issues and changes which could ‘green’ their lifestyle. The group has unintentionally grown quickly as friends of friends ask to join. The EcoEmails don’t always give people an easy solution to a problem but try to make them aware that every decision they make has environmental and sustainability consequences. About EcoEmails January 16, 2009

Why do I write my EcoEmails and this blog?

Firstly to teach myself – it makes me sit down and read about how I can reduce my environmental impact.
And secondly to tell my friends and my friend’s friends – because perhaps if you teach people the facts and then remind them often enough and nag them and pester them and bug them and persuade them and harass them – they will start to use a little less energy and waste less water and choose the train over the plane and recycle their waste and swish their clothes and eat food not covered in toxins – and then slowly, oh so very slowly, we could change the way we live – and perhaps, just perhaps, the world will not be hot and toxic and unpredictable when our grand-children come along.

You are exactly correct and I love your determination. Is this site a sustainable site? Using eco power? I am looking for one for my new Everything Eco business.

    Respect to you
    Great work

I think you will like my ideas a lot

We were never taught when young, at least I wasn’t, that our affluent lifestyle in America is causing other people to live a not so great lifestyle. We Americans in the U.S. use a lot of resources hogging them away from other less fortunate people in other underdeveloped countries. We really do not need to live such an affluent lifestyle, it should really be called an unsustainable lifestyle.

I long for a simpler lifestyle, where almost all my needs can be met by my local community. This doesn’t mean we don’t have the internet, movies or good food. It just means what we do have is sustainable, doesn’t waste resources anymore and most of the items we have like clothes, shampoo, pastured dairy, organic produce are not mass produced anymore. I realize this will take time but I do know we are moving toward this whether people realize this or not. The 99% can and will create this future for our grandchildren’s children it’s just that I want it now, but need to realize it may not happen in my lifetime. The possibility of this new world happening soon is always with me though, who knows what we are capable of when the 1% no longer have any control over the 99%.
