This originated with me sending regular emails to my close friends and family on environmental issues and changes which could ‘green’ their lifestyle. The group has unintentionally grown quickly as friends of friends ask to join. The EcoEmails don’t always give people an easy solution to a problem but try to make them aware that every decision they make has environmental and sustainability consequences. Conventional drycleaners are the largest users of the industrial solvent called Perchloroethylene, or perc, which is toxic to humans and also creates smog.

If you do take clothes to conventional cleaners, be sure to air them outside before wearing them or putting them in the closet.

The two most common GREEN drycleaning methods are carbon dioxide cleaning and Green Earth.

If you dry clean some of your clothes try and seek out cleaners that use green methods… or email me and I’ll find your closest Green drycleaner.

Hi wonder how long does it take until the Perc chemical will disappear. In your article you are writhing that you need to air the clothes.

Most clothes are covered in plastic when I receive them. However hanging them outsde is a good idea but for how long?
